A site search engines can crawl, index and understand
Technical SEO is the work that lets search engines reach, render and read a site, before content or links can count for anything. As a freelance technical SEO consultant, I run the audit, fix what it finds with your developers, and check the result in Search Console.
- Technical SEO covers crawling and indexing, redirect and canonical logic, structured data, international targeting with hreflang, site speed and platform migrations.
- On the Bitmain engagement, merging duplicate language versions, adding hreflang and expanding Product and FAQ schema took Search Console index coverage from 72% to 96% of URLs.
- Technical SEO fixes often show impact within four to six weeks of the changes going live.
- A technical SEO audit with a prioritised roadmap is a fixed-fee project from £3,000.
- Technical SEO is one part of the wider SEO service, alongside keyword strategy, content and digital PR.
What stops a site being crawled and indexed
These problems sit between how a site is built and how a crawler reads it. They show up in crawl data and Search Console, not in a look at the pages.
Pages a crawler cannot render
Client-side rendering and app-shell architectures can leave pages effectively blank to Googlebot, as some of Bitmain’s product pages were.
Duplicates competing with each other
Language versions and parameter URLs without canonical or hreflang logic split the ranking signals and use up crawl budget.
Redirects and canonicals in conflict
Chains, loops and canonicals that point somewhere the redirect does not, left behind by redesigns and migrations.
Structured data that is missing or wrong
Product, FAQ, Organization and Article schema tell search engines and AI assistants what a page is and what it offers.
Who is technical SEO for?
Sites where the way they are built is limiting search.
- JavaScript-heavy products
- Single-page apps and frameworks where what a visitor sees and what a crawler receives are different.
- International sites
- More than one language or market on one domain, where hreflang and canonical logic decide which version ranks.
- Sites being replatformed
- Redirect maps, metadata and structured data planned before the switch and checked after it.
Technical SEO audit
A crawl of the whole site, an indexation review in Search Console, Core Web Vitals and structured data validation, with each finding ranked by impact and by the effort to fix it.
Crawling, indexing and canonicals
Redirect and canonical conflicts resolved, duplicates consolidated, and the pages that matter made renderable and indexable.
Structured data and international SEO
Product, FAQ and Organization schema, and hreflang for sites in more than one language, validated in Search Console.
Migrations
Redirect mapping, metadata and structured data carried across a replatform, then checked in a fresh crawl and in Search Console after launch.
- Crawl and audit
- A full crawl, a Search Console and analytics review, and the findings ranked by impact and effort, so the fixes go in the right order.
- Fix
- Redirects, canonicals, rendering, schema and hreflang, changed directly where I have access, or specified for your developers where I do not.
- Verify
- A recrawl, then index coverage and Core Web Vitals watched in Search Console until search engines have processed the changes.
- Keep it
- Monitoring as part of an SEO retainer, or a written record of what changed and what to check, for your team to keep.

Questions before an engagement
Including cost.
Other services
Most engagements use two or three together. A strategy sets the direction; the rest do the work.
Digital marketing strategy
Audience research, channel planning, go-to-market, and measurement frameworks. The decision-making layer that tells you what to do, in what order, and how you’ll know it’s working.
Search engine optimisation
Technical SEO, keyword strategy, content optimisation and authority building. I resolve the technical problems that keep search engines from your site, then build the visibility that grows over months.
Content marketing
Content strategy, thought leadership, newsletters, and distribution. The aim is content that answers the questions your buyers actually have, in places they’ll actually find it, rather than volume for its own sake.
Social media management
Channel strategy, community management, content publishing, and paid social on the channels your audience already uses: X, Discord, Telegram, and LinkedIn.
Paid advertising
Google Ads, Meta advertising, tracking and bid optimisation. Paid media in crypto and regulated categories carries platform restrictions and sceptical audiences, so campaigns are built to be compliant and measured from the start.
Digital transformation
Replatforming, measurement infrastructure, CRM and the operating rhythm of a marketing team: the foundations a plan runs on, from tracking that can be trusted to a site that can ship a page.
AI consultancy
Where AI improves a marketing team’s work and where it does not. Workflow design, tooling, quality standards and the review process that keeps the output to the team’s standard.
AI search visibility
Answer engine optimisation. Being the source an AI cites when someone asks it a question in your category. That is a different job from ranking, and increasingly the one that decides whether you get considered at all.
